This illustration depicts a peaceful coexistence between a girl and a wolf in an enchanted forest. The small details, such as the bird perched on the wolf's head and the mice, give the illustration an extra level of interest. The wolf is seen as a symbol of protection and strength in some cultures and as a symbol of freedom and independence in others, conveying the idea that these two characters can peacefully coexist in harmony.
We were so thrilled to be tying the knot that we wanted everyone to share in the joy, so I created a 'Save the Date' card design that commemorated the occasion. I illustrated us together on our special day, which was a beautiful one and I wanted to preserve the memory forever. I worked with pen and watercolour and printed it onto lavender seed paper. The end result was truly stunning!
I created this drawing of myself in a box to demonstrate thinking outside of the norm. This portrayal reflects a period of stagnation in my art career, but thankfully I have since been able to recover and move forward. I particularly enjoy adding texture to my work, so I decided to give her hairy legs - it makes me chuckle!
